In her one-woman operation Delicious Istanbul cooking classes and culinary walks, Olga shares her passion for the food and markets of the city she loves. Also, monthly she hosts a popular Istanbul breakfast club when she lays out a carefully sourced and lovingly prepared morning meal for a good company of avid eaters and Istanbul enthusiasts. On her popular blog Delicious Istanbul Olga shares insights into eating and cooking in Istanbul and the Turkish countryside and thoughts on life in Turkey.
Russia-born Olga used to work as a strategy consultant for a global firm serving clients in Russia and Ukraine and received her master degree from a prestigious business school in Norway. But a visit to Istanbul inspired a stock-taking and, ultimately, a drastic career change. In 2010 Olga quit her high-flier career and moved to Turkey’s cultural capital, where she started her food venture and met her Turkish husband.
She has learned the secrets of Turkish home cooking from her Turkish mother-in-law, with whom she worked side-by-side in the kitchen of their family restaurant in Sapanca, a picturesque village a 2-hour drive from Istanbul.
Though she divides her time between Kadıköy and Sapanca her heart is in the countryside with her family, as are her plans: to open Turkey’s first farm-to-table culinary school. Olga, her cooking classes and blog have been featured in The Guardian, London Evening Standard, Die Zeit, Today’s Zaman, The Huffington Post, Timeout Istanbul and GQ Russia.
